Inspired by the work of British geographer L. Dudley Stamp, Temujin Doran’s short film about the processes by which mountains are created and destroyed is a staggeringly beautiful piece of work that also plays as a persuasive if unconventional tourism ad for Iceland. On top of all the stunning imagery and serene music (also by Tem), the measured and detailed narration is as poetic as it is informative.
In this issue of Astronaut Magazine, we catch up with the prolific Tem who tells us about his work process and his latest travels to the South Pole, where he filmed part of a historic polar expedition. Read the interview and enjoy photographs of ice giants and frozen caves in this issue of Astronaut Magazine, available here. Posted by Sophia in May 2014.
